1901 Hickory Street

A quintessential Lafayette Square (St. Louis, MO) home, with original features we adore: staircase, fireplaces, a stone arch in the kitchen anyone?! The millwork detail is worth swooning over.

This home is overflowing with architecture to appreciate.

SWOOOOOOOOOON.

Let’s stay outside a moment and really take in these arched doors and windows. You don’t see this level of craftsmenship anymore. Not to mention the exterior color scheme is just delightful. Fresh, rooted in historical colors, but looks modern. A masterpiece on maintaining a home’s original character and making it look timeless.

A STATEMENT living room.

Now, while the decor isn’t our taste, if you can look past it, there’s so much to appreciate. An original (likely marble) fireplace, crown molding for dayyyyyys, a stunning ceiling medallion pairs with a statement chandelier. Elegance isn’t enough of a word to describe the bones of this home.

Too much clutter and bold design takes attention off the aspects of the home buyers want to see.

If we were staging this home, or thinking about purchasing it - this is the style we would go for. Let the historic elements speak for themselves while adding modern touches to make the home even more appealing.

Onto the kitchen.

There is a LOT going on in here, but all the different stones, tiles and color schemes take away from this absolutely marvelous brick archway.

So let’s reimagine it!

Mmmmm better! A warmer flooring, less chaotic backsplash and those 90’s track lights removed.

Let’s do a less extensive remodel just to see how far we can go with some paint and tile updates.
